Principal's Message

Dear Del Amo Dynamic Dolphin Family,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am so excited to begin another school year with you.   I am proud to work with such an awesome group of staff, parents and students.  I am looking forward to all of the many activities and events that we have planned for this school year.

Our student expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Kind will help us to continue to provide a learning environment where all students can be successful.  Students will continue to learn that being their best and doing their best is always important, no matter how difficult the challenge.

For the next four years, Los Angeles Unified School District will focus on a singular goal: ensure ALL our students graduate READY FOR THE WORLD – to thrive in college, career, and life.  We have been presented with a Strategic Plan that represents a promise to the entire Los Angeles Unified community that we will achieve this goal.  Del Amo Elementary School is dedicated to ensuring that our work is aligned to this plan.

We are so fortunate to have a strong team of teachers and staff members who have high expectations for student success while balancing that with the needs of all students. We believe in a strong academic focus but balance that with the need for students to play, collaborate, problem solve and create. Family members are a key to our success as a school. We can’t do it without you! Together we can help all children to learn and grow as individuals and strong members of our community.

This year our theme of “DIVE into Success... thrive to be Better” will help us to focus on building an even stronger community of students that are READY for the World.  While we are focused on academic excellence, our goal is to help our students develop a growth mindset and understand what kindness looks and feels like.

We have an exciting year ahead of us! I encourage each family to set goals for the year and talk about what you hope to accomplish this school year. I hope that each of you will have a great year filled with fun and learning! If you ever have any suggestions, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or myself.

Sincerely,

Ms. H. Zaid
